Feel free to browse around and see what’s been going onin my world lately. I will update this site as often as possible… but TRUST me, my life can get crazy busy so no guarantees it will be daily or anything! I’m new to this blogging thing, and I’m a pretty private person (pole dancer or not!) so it’s very likely going to be a continual work in progress… All the best, Cindy

Name: Cindy Coverdale

Born: Colorado Springs, Colorado

Siblings: 4 Brothers and 1 Sister–I’m the youngest.

Growing Up: I was a total tomboy when I was little, and having 4 older brothers made me pretty tough! I loved to be outside… catching bugs, helping my brother work on cars and motorcycles, and doing gymnastics. Drawing and doing gymnastics were my two most favorite things while growing up. Oh, and organizing things! ha ha. I still do that one! I lived in a neighborhood filled with kids. We would ride bikes, play hide-and-seek etc. with whoever was available to play… until the streetlights came on.

Present Time: I would say I’m pretty much a girly-girl now. I like all things pampering: massages, nice hotels, traveling First Class! David has taught me all about the finer things in life and I’ve adapted quite well! Ha Ha! I am all about making things easy and not stressing. The friends I have now laugh if I say I’m going on a school camping trip with Jasper. (They know I’m 5 star.) I can handle it though, I just draw from my roots! ha ha.

I love being married, being a Mom, and having a business to run. I have a very fulfilling life!

Age: Not Telling!

Children: 1 Son, Jasper. He’s the best. He’s an “old soul” for sure, and always teaching me things. We have a wonderful relationship, which I sure hope continues as he moves into the rebellious teenage years! Yikes.

Pets: I have two kitties. Riley and Lola. They are very sweet. Still kittens. And they love to play.

Hobbies: Obviously, #1 is Pole Dancing. It takes me back to my youth with my love for gymnastics and it allows me to express my creativity through dance. I feel strong, sexy and free when I dance. There was no money for dance classes when I was growing up and I remember watching my friend during her ballet classes just wishing so bad I could take a class. Now I can! You really can try anything at any age… If you just give yourself permission to do it. I started my dance studio Vertical Fitness to have a place where woman can experience trying new things (pole dancing, belly dancing etc.) in a safe and beautiful environment.

Hi Everybody! I just got back from New York where I attended the US Pole Dancing Championship. It was amazing! The dancers were incredible! Photos were not allowed, during the event so I don’t have any great ones to share, but you can check out uspoledance.com as they have them posted on their site.

I had two friends dancing in the show. Jenyne and Michula. Jenyne took first place! YAE! She will go to Australia in September to compete in the World Pole Dancing Championship.

Unfortunately, Michula got injured (ouch) the night before the competition and was unable to compete. It was so sad to see her watching the show with her arm in a cast. What a disappointment.

The organizers of the event, Wendy and Anna from New York Pole Dancing, did a fabulous job. It was held in the Bleeker Street Theatre in Soho. I look forward to the next one!

Every time Greece comes up on a Whitesnake tour you can pretty much guarantee that I will be going on the road! I absolutely adore it. I could live on feta cheese, kalamata olives and pita bread! The history is incredible and you see columns lying around everywhere. The Greek audiences are amazing. So friendly, loud, and happy to be at a show! I’m always sad to leave…

People who live in Tahoe tend to be pretty out- doorsy. I’ve included this photo of my son and I on a snowshoe trip. Don’t let it fool you. It’s not that easy to get me out in the snow…I’m much more of a “lay out in the sun and chill” kind of girl. This was a Boy Scout expedition my friend Diane got us to go on. Turned out it was really fun! I’d still rather be out on a boat or on the beach. Obviously, summer is my favorite time of year in Tahoe.

Whitesnake is my favorite Rock Band! Woooo Hooooo! And it’s not ONLY cause I’m married to David Coverdale! ha ha. I liked Whitesnake before I ever met David. My first favorite Whitesnake song was “Judgement Day”. I still LOVE that song! In college Whitesnake was one of our (my friends and I) favorite party tapes. We’d listen to Whitesnake on our way to UNR football games and when we’d go out partying. I have fond memories of driving around with my best friend Deanna, in her Volkswagon Cabriolet blasting Whitesnake. I think one of the things that is so appealing to Whitesnake fans, besides David’s sexy voice, is how much fun the songs are!

Now of course my favorite songs are the ones about me! Just kidding… kind of.

I LOVE ”Give Me All Your Love Tonight” in concert. I can’t resist dancing to it. And “Still of the Night” of course!

On the new Good To Be Bad CD I love “Lay Down Your Love” and “Summer Rain” ! They are my favs. The whole CD is great, though, so if you haven’t yet purchased it I suggest you go to itunes and start downloading!

The first song David ever wrote for me is on the Coverdale/Page album. It’s called “Take A Look at Yourself” and it’s absolutely beautiful. I was pretty much stunned to have someone write a song for me. Years later, David told my mom, “All the nice songs are about your daughter. All the not so nice songs are about someone else.” I hope to keep it that way!

I could go on and on…

I love “Love is Blind” of the Into the Light CD and “The River Song” is kick ass. It’s kind of Hendrixy and it reminds me of my brother Scott, who is up in heaven now. I’m sure it’s his favorite.

Pole Dancing can be athletic, slinky, easy, or challenging. It’s really whatever you want it to be. Whatever your style dictates. That is one of the things I really love about it. I personally, love the more gymnastics based moves. The upside down aerial moves high up on the pole. The ones that require strength and flexibility. Those are my favorites!

There are some incredible pole dancers out there. Fawnia, Jenyne Butterfly, Jamilla, Leigh Ann Orso, K.T. Coates, Mikey, Bad Azz, and Kitty Cadillac to name a few. I have been so fortunate to be able to study or dance will all of them!

A Complete Guide to Staging Homes for Quick Sale in Any Market, this book is designed to be a quick read with tips that are easy and inexpensive to implement. Feng Shui principles are at the heart of the book, but you will not find a lot of Feng Shui dogma here. The book was created for Real Estate Agents, and homeowners, and the purpose was to introduce them to a new technique that can help them to sell homes not to overwhelm them with a lot of background on Feng Shui. It is simple and to the point.

The inspiration for writing this book came from the many appointments Christine and I had with Real Estate Agents. Using Feng Shui principles, and a little muscle (we spent many appointments rearranging furniture on the spot) these “Feng Shui for Sale” appointments, as Christine liked to call them, proved to be so successful we decided to write a book to share with all Real Estate Agents, and homeowners, so they could implement the tools on their own and only call us for the really difficult homes. The “difficult” homes usually required a deeper level of Feng Shui such as clearing out negative energy. This is information that requires more training and a deeper understanding of Feng Shui so it is not included in the book. Nine times out of ten though, the homes do sell without requiring our services!

So if you’re trying to sell your home, give a little Feng Shui a try. I promise we made it simple and inexpensive to implement these tools. Have fun with it and start planning life in your new home!

What the heck is Feng Shui anyway?

Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of “placement”.

To me, Feng Shui is all about creating a balanced environment that can support you in whatever area you choose. It’s been around for so long because it works!

Our homes are a snapshot of our bodies. Whatever is going on in your home is simply an outward manifestation of what is going on inside of our bodies. That is why doing Feng Shui in your home can help you shift something that is going on in your life. It’s not really about your house… Your house is just kind of the tool to make the adjustments in a physical way so that you can be supported.

One of the great things about Feng Shui is that by implementing ”cures” you are allowing yourself to become present to what you want to create in your life. We spend a lot of our time being pretty unconscious to what’s going on around us or happening to us. When you get to a point of realizing, “I want to change this!” you can start to work with that on a physical level by using Feng Shui to support the energy of your thought.

It’s an ongoing process so enjoy, and know that in another day, month, year you will likely be shifting or changing in some way and may feel compelled to make more changes. Perhaps rearrange your living room! Go for it. You’re likely just intuitively shifting things to support something you are moving into. Maybe you can take a moment and get present as to what that is. Then you can consciously work with it. We are constantly evolving and changing and that’s a good thing!

The Black Sect School of Feng Shui

I know… Black Sect sounds kind of weird. It actually has even a longer name but this is plenty for now. Many times black is associated with darkness and white with “the light” so it can get a bad rap. In this case the color black is about including all colors to make up the color black so it’s a pretty inclusive form of Feng Shui. There are many different schools of Feng Shui. In many ways they are similiar, but there are also some fundamental differences between them. It’s not to say one is better than the other, but the one that works for me and that I was drawn to, is the Black Sect School of Feng Shui. It works by setting an energy map (called the bagua) to the front door of any room. There is no need for a compass, or to sleep with your feet facing one direction, you don’t have to know directions or do math, etc. It is easy, works in any environment, and won’t require you to explain any odd looking cures to people.

The Bagua

The Bagua is an energy map that you line up with the front door of your home, room, or the entrance of your property. The front door represents the mouth, where the energy enters a space. Remember, the house is somewhat of a metaphor for the body. The Bagua then dictates where the following areas lie.

Career… Knowledge… Family… Wealth… Fame… Relationship… Creativity… Benefactors…  and in the center lies Health.

The Elements

In Feng Shui we are working to keep the following elements balanced with each other. They may also be used to uplift an area of the Bagua.

Water…Wood… Fire… Earth.. Metal

Certain areas of the Bagua also correspond to certain Elements,which is where the cures come in.

Career = Water

Family = Wood

Fame = Fire

Relationship = Earth

Creativity = Metal

Color

Color is often used in Feng Shui to uplift areas of the Bagua…

Career = Black or Deep Dark Blue

Knowledge = Blue or Green

Family = Green

Wealth = Green, Purple, Red, Gold and Silver

Fame = Red

Relationship = Red, Pink, White and Earthtones

Creativity = White

Benefactors = Gray

Health = Yellow

Shapes

Shapes are another way we can add in cures to uplift certain guas.

Career = Irregular shape

Family = Column

Fame = Triangle

Relationship = Square or Rectangle

Creativity = Round

It can be very simple.

So once you know how the Bagua lines up in a space you can then go about using elements, colors, and shapes to uplift, enhance or cure certain areas. It doesn’t mean that you can’t use those colors, shapes or elements in other locations, but sometimes simply moving a fountain to an area that water is compatible with can make a big difference. This isn’t to say a qualified consultant isn’t ever necessary. They can be very helpful in many ways. Clearing spaces, being a neutral objective party, helping you to see something from a fresh perspective and more. Make sure you feel comfortable with them, and if they suggest something that really doesn’t feel right to you speak up! It is YOUR home afterall. Sometimes it takes trying something for a few days to see how you really feel about it though. Sometimes it can be scary to take that next step, whatever it is and you may find yourself reluctant to make the change needed to support that. That’s okay. Take your time.

An example.

Say you decide you would like to improve your relationship with your partner. You can look at the area inyour home, office, bedroom etc. and see what’s going on in there? Is there a bunch of clutter? Is anything broken? Could it benefit from a little bit of attention? How do you feel in that spot? Then you can go about improving it. Putting energy on this area will also be putting it on your actual relationship energetically. You could add in some earthtones, pink or red, square shapes, or Earthy items to uplift the energy of that space. You really have a lot of options. One nice thing you can do to focus and improve relationship is to add pairs of things. Not pears! Pairs! By our bathtub, which is in the relationship area of our home, we have two matching candelabras, two Lalique kitty statues and two pink rose quarts hearts. These pairs help reinforce a relationship between two people. We also have a square bathtub and marble (earth element) around it. It’s so easy, and it can be really fun!

I recommend if you’re interested, that you play with Feng Shui a little bit in the beginning. Pick one thing to focus on and see what happens. Once you see that it “works’ you’ll be ready to look into other areas you’d like to improve as well. You know that feeling of cleaning out your closet and getting rid of everything that doesn’t fit anymore or that you don’t like? It feels great! It also allows you to breath and start fresh. It allows you to say good bye to the old you and make room for the new you. Feng Shui can feel a lot like that. I think it’s mostly because you’ve decided to become involved in creating your own choices instead of simply letting them happen to you. Have fun!

A funny story…

One of my friends had just moved into her own home after going through a divorce. She decided she was ready to date and asked me what Feng Shui she could do to help. Well, we talked about a lot of things among them placing a photo of a single guy that she might be interested in dating in the relationship part of her bedroom, which happened to be the relationship part of her home. So a few weeks later I was over at her house and I asked her how the dating was going and she started laughing and telling me about this “much younger” guy she was kind of seeing… When I went in her bedroom she had an Abercrombie Fitch bag in the relationship corner and that was pretty much what the guy she was dating looked like. ha ha! That’s when we went over perhaps adding a list of qualities she would like in a partner to go with the photo. She made some adjustments and now she’s happily in a relationship with a different man who has the qualities that were important to her.

I think I first had my home Feng Shui’d in 1999 or 2000. Of course I waited until my husband was out of town. Don’t worry he knew I was doing it, but yes he was a little concerned… Were we going to have to change a lot? Would it be expensive? Would he like it? Anyway, I’m happy to report that it was nothing but a positive experience for both of us. Turns out we didn’t have to do a lot. Whew! We had a pretty good grasp of Feng Shui principals on our own. Who knew?

Anyway, after experiencing the changes that went on in my life after making a few changes I was sold on Feng Shui and became determined to learn everything I could about it. This is a constant theme in my life when I become interested in something! ha ha. I began taking every class that Chris Blanchard, our local feng shui consultant, taught. I loved them! I recruited all my friends to come to classes, and I eventually hosted a monthly class in my home for a group of about 10-15 friends. We’d cover a different topic each month… The Relationship Gua, Career Gua, Clearing our Clutter… on and on.

I still needed more, so I persuaded Chris to take me in as an apprentice so I could deepen my studies. Bless her heart she went for it! She created an amazing curriculum for me complete with class studies, field work and a final exam. I got to accompany her on appointments which was such an amazing gift. I learned what really happens when you go to apply all the fundamentals. It’s not always a neat and tidy as it is in the Feng Shui books! I also learned how to share recommendations with clients… That can be the tricky part. It’s very important to use those intuitive abilities when determining what is appropriate to share and not. You certainly don’t want to overwhelm someone, or force them into something they are not yet ready for. She was also very good at pointing out what people did right! That is a nice touch, because it’s easy to pick out everything that is “wrong” but wrong really depends on what the person is wanting in their life. Maybe they are in a space where they need to be private and protected for a bit. In that case something that could be a negative in their Benefactor Gua might actually be working perfectly for them at that time.

Living in a resort area we did a lot of appointments with Real Estate Agents. Chris really developed a fantastic way to apply Feng Shui to help sell properties. These appointments were always a lot of fun… and a lot of physical work. We would get in there and completely rearrange furniture, move paintings, etc. We would be filthy and exhausted after some of these, but it was so exciting to hear they sold! There was usually a lot of freedom because many of the owners of these properties just wanted to sell and were not attached to things looking a certain way.

After my training we decided to write a book together. I knew that Chris had many books inside her waiting to come out and felt like I could share with her what I knew about writing books since I’d written one. That is how Sell Your Home with Feng Shui came to be…

People always assume I met David at a show… Or something along those lines… But here’s the truth. I met David Coverdale in November 1990. We were both getting our hair hi-lighted (he was blond then) at this little hair salon in Reno, Nevada called Look n’ Good! How funny is that? When David walked in half of my head was covered in aluminum foil packets. Perfect. Just how you want to look when you meet someone famous. Or anyone for that matter! I knew who he was, of course, and thought it was really weird because over a 2-3 month period before meeting him, his name kept coming up. I guess it was our destiny to meet.

A few days after meeting, he sent me a HUGE bouquet of roses with an invitation to go out to dinner. I was pretty much floored. When I left my job that day, I called to tell him “Thank you very much, but I can’t do dinner.” I was in the process of ending a relationship, but it wasn’t quite finalized yet so I didn’t feel it would be right. Blah… blah… blah… Honestly, I was also scared to death. Let’s just say David was somewhat persuasive and I finally agreed to meet him. I just started thinking, “You know, you just might end up being really good friends. What do you have to loose by meeting him?” I grew up with 4 older brothers so it’s not like it was hard for me to talk to or be around guys. Then, on the way to that meeting “Is this Love” came on the radio. That really freaked me out. I had to pull over and breathe! ha ha.

We took things slow from there. Both of us were traveling off and on so we spent a lot of time on the phone getting to know each other before seeing each other again. Which was nice. I don’t think either one of us really wanted t be in another relationship as we were both coming out of somewhat dysfunctional ones. However… I think the angels had other plans. Seriously. David and I didn’t have a lot of choice in the matter. We were supposed to be together. And thank goodness we eventually gave in because we have an amazing marriage and friendship now.

Being married to a rock star does have it’s perks. You get to have someone write and sings songs about you. And there is nothing like seeing your husband up on stage performing. That is amazing! I am in awe of David when I watch his shows. I love hearing David on the radio and thinking, that’s my husband. Wow. I am so proud of his accomplishments. He is an incredible person. Don’t think I don’t know I’m one lucky girl!
